[ Lapis has been plotting something for a few days. It's been a little difficult to do, when her target tends to be by her side often, but this morning she's been able to pull it off - with help from one little crow and little nebula, who are more than excited about it.

She had asked Jinwoo to stay out of the kitchen while she got breakfast ready, and when she calls him in there will be something a little... different waiting. Haneul and Azzurra chirp happily when they spot their dad, and Haneul brings over a little handmade card held in his beak. There's a purple and blank scribble on the front, their best attempts at drawing Jinwoo, and inside the card itself is a claw print and dust print - their own little signatures. Lapis has wrote something in there too for them, in neat Korean: "Happy Father's Day!"

Breakfast has also been prepared, and again there was an... attempt by the kids. Donuts and waffles have been made, though the waffles are a little wonky and the ice cream and syrup put on top are lopsided. And the icing put on the donuts are also a little all over the place - plus some of it got eaten in the process, so a couple of donuts are a little naked. But they tried!

They both both up their chests proudly at their work, while Lapis chuckles softly as she makes some coffee for him too. ]

I asked if they wanted to make something for you today, and they got really excited. Though I had to help a bit.

[ Since she's the one with actual thumbs. But she figured it would be a cute idea, since these two are basically their kids now. ]

[ awestruck is a good way to describe the look on his face as he finally comes over to see what mischief Lapis and their two little pokemon have gotten up to. He's staring, as if frozen in time as his brain comprehends what it is, exactly, that he's looking at.

'Father's Day...'

There's a weird--and not at all unpleasant--feeling that wells up into his belly as he lets the pieces fall into place. The 'Kids' and Lapis wanted to make him dinner... for Father's day.

When it hits him, it's almost instantaneous that his face goes bright pink to red.

His hand moving up to cover his mouth as he fights for his life to compose himself. ]

--Ah.

......Ah. [ I'm Dad. ]

[ bluescreen, one second. ]

[ There's a tilt of her head as Lapis watches him, taking in his reaction with a slight furrow of her brow. Jinwoo doesn't seem too upset... So maybe he's just feeling a little overwhelmed? How red he's turning does make it seem like that's the case.

There's curious chirps from the little crow and nebula as they watch them, and she flashes them a gentle smile as she puts down the coffee she's preparing and steps closer to Jinwoo. A hand reaches up to rub his arm gently, her expression warm as she looks over him.]

Do you need a moment?

[ There's no rush, especially since she knows he wasn't expecting this. ]

[ oh dont worry lapis, he's definitely having a moment. he really didn't expect this, and being called 'father' is having a weird effect on his brain. family was something he wrote off ever having again the day the black order took him away from his own--and as he looks around, to each of the little animals, to lapis, to the little breakfast they'd made...

he'd have a family again.
he'd be allowed to have a family, all of his own. he had a beautiful partner who would stay with him for years to come, a home that has enough room for however that family grows...
It's making him feel a little emotional, maybe. and jinwoo is so bad at emotions. they're like weird things that don't have proper boxes in his head. He picks up lapis' hand, and kisses her knuckles, maybe hiding his eyes behind his bangs a little. ]

[ Yep, definitely a moment. And she's content to wait and let him compose himself at his own pace - considering how their lives were before, she knows this is a lot to take in. But she knew she also wanted to arrange this for him; to show that they have a family all of their own now.

There's a soft sound when he takes her hand and kisses her knuckles, the touch causing her heart to flutter as she steps closer. Her free hand reaching up to gently brush his hair back, smiling warmly still. The two little Pokémon still watch curiously, chirping quietly still, but can see their dad is feeling a bit emotional so they stay put. ]

Do you want to sit down for a second?

Sitting down is a great idea.

[ he pops his head up a little, as he realises in a moment that he hadn't spoken at all. defaulting to pulling all his dialogue to bounce around inside his own head instead of speaking it--an old habit. But Lapis breaks that spell and he's going to slide into a seat. ]

This is... entirely unexpected. But you all did an amazing job. I'm... touched. Touched is the word I'm feeling, that's definitely it.

[ Once he sits, she'll slide into the seat next to him - still watching him with a gentle smile. Looks like he's still processing this, but sitting down is a good start!
]

So you don't mind me calling you their dad, then?

[ Her hand shifts to rest on his arm again, a warm touch to help ground him that little bit more. ]

I don't mind.

[ the response comes out easily--hell, it almost tumbles out without him even having to think or consider anything about it. like he'd already decided, without a shadow of a doubt.

he laughs at himself. he raises a hand to touch hers. ]

The thought of being 'Dad'...

I like it more than I'd be willing to admit.

[ Well, that immediately removes any worries that had lingered at the back of her mind. When his hand touches hers, she shifts so that she can take his in hers - fingers squeezing around his hand for a brief moment. ]

Then you're now their 'Dad'. Which means we'll need to keep celebrating Father's Day every year for you.

[ She's very certain he'll be an amazing dad, too. ]

I think I can be perfectly happy with that. [ it's such an odd feeling--but a warm feeling. He touches the front of his chest, as if to be able to feel the warmth rising in it.

But then a bit of a mischievously clever smile moves up his lips. ]

...And by that logic, we're going to have to be prepared for Mother's Day as well.

[ That smile gets a blink, head tilting in curiosity before she just... freezes. Eyes widening as she processes that. Of course if he's 'dad', then she would be...

It's her turn to red, a quiet little "oh" escaping her before she covers her mouth for a moment. Like him it's a thought she doesn't mind in the slightest, her chest filling with a warmth that has her smiling. ]

Oh, right, o-of course... I'll look forward to it.

[ She quickly clears her throat, still smiling even as she reaches over to nudge his shoulder. ]

A-anyway, you need to eat your breakfast! We worked hard on it.

Oh. Yes, right. Eating it.

[ he stops because he'd... completely forgotten that was the POINT of all this. He looks down at the food, and while it isn't some 5-star chef made meal or anything, he can't help but to feel a little sad for just a second. ]

I was too busy thinking about how nice it looked and how touching the gesture was that I.

Forgot the point of it was to eat it...

[ Her expression softens when she notices how he seems to... deflate a little. Letting herself lean closer and nudge her arm against his, giving her fiance a soft smile. ]

This won't be the first time we'll do something like this for you. [ There's little cheers from the little Pokemon, who beam brightly at him. They want to make more breakfasts for dad in the future! ]

There's all the Father's Days in the future, plus I imagine they'll want to help make something for your birthday too.

I'm still not used to it.

[ he does laugh, a hand moving down to give Azzura a little pat on her head in thanks as he finally picks up his fork to start digging into the waffles before they got too cold.

...As expected, they taste better today for some reason. Maybe it's just in his head, but he's sure of it. ]

A birthday used to be just another indication that time was passing.
Now I actually look forward to things like this.

I know but you'll have time to. Like I said, this won't be the only time we do this.

[ Seeing him start to eat prompts little cheers from the kids, glad that he seems to like it - and Lapis' own smile brightens in response.

She only has an idea of just how alone he was, back in the Order, but now that will never happen again. Every event, every little thing, will be celebrated with his family. ]

Good, you deserve to be celebrated. And me and others will keep making sure that it happens.

[ He'll do a little chuckle as the poke-children run and bounce in delighted little circles--reaching out to pat Haneul next, even if the top-hatted little bird barely stays still long enough to allow it. ]

I look forward to it. And every little celebration from now on.

You all did an amazing job with the food. It's delicious.

Now, surely I'm not the only one eating. Should I share my bounty?

[ It's hard not to giggle at how excited the little ones are, her smile brightening that little bit more. ]

Ah, they did eat the first few... attempts at this. [ She learned not to leave the batter unattended. ] But I'm certain they wouldn't mind if I put something small together.

[ Cue more happy little chirps from the two - they can eat with dad! Considering how much they already ate, some toast with berries should be enough. ]

And that's all for you, you don't need to share it!

Ah, you attempted several times...
You guys really tried to get it perfect, huh?

[ he's letting out a little laugh as he continues to dig in--doing his best to not talk with a mouthful of waffle and whipped cream. ]

Ah...
It's a force of habit to want to share everything these days.

Well, we wanted you to have the best.

[ And they had fun with it too. Even if it took a few tries, Lapis didn't mind at all - and the pokekids were certainly excited at making something new. Especially since it was for Jinwoo.

So now she pushes herself onto her feet, going to put a mini breakfast together. Though not before she pokes a finger against his cheek. ]

I know, but this is all for you. Today is your day, after all.

And I'll make sure to make your favourites for dinner too.

[ ah, his eyes flick up and widen a bit if he's poked. there's this sparkle to the glowing purple irises as he follows her with his eyes once she goes to put together a small breakfast for the two pokemon who are definitely eyeing his breakfast. ]

--I get spoiled for dinner, too?

Ah, this Father's Day thing should happen every year.

[ its hard to tell if this is a joke or not. ]

[ Seeing that sparkle prompts her smile to brighten, though to does reach over to gently pat the pokemon who are eyeing the waffles. She'll need to make sure they don't sneak a bite when Jinwoo isn't looking... ]

Mmhm, good thing this is a yearly holiday then!

[ As if she won't find excuses to spoil him other times as well - ]

Haha, ah, how could I forget. Holidays come once every year...
Which me and the little ones need to start thinking about Mother's day soon, then. I think that comes first.

[ his smirk widens juuust a little. ]

Do... you think we could have hot pot? We could invite Husk. It IS father's day for him too, after all. I'd ... like to say thank you for being a good dad to you. [ a pause. ] ...and me, too.

[ There's a brief flush across her cheeks in response, her smile turning a little sheepish now. ]

I-I'll be fine with anything, really...

[ She's still bad at attention being focused on her-

But now she perks up, when he tells her what he wants. Already plotting where they could go - there is that nice place in the city they go to often, if she calls now she should be able to book a spot for them... ]

Of course, and I'm pretty sure dad would enjoy that too. He really has been great to both of us... He really does care about you a lot, even if he's grumpy sometimes.

After all he's been through, I think he gets a grumpy pass. Besides, I think it's part of his charm.

Especially when he acts grumpy with the kids around. They sit and bounce around him and he tries so hard to look annoyed, even when Azzura is being the cutest thing in the world...

I've seen him pet her head. He thinks I didn't see. But I saw it.

Dad wouldn't be Dad if he wasn't at least a little grumpy.

[ And her words trail off into a gentle chuckle. ]

Not even he can resist how cute she is. He really is soft underneath all that grump...

[ Her smile turns a little more softer now, something more fond. ]

And after everything he's been through, it's nice... To see him just be grumpy and grouchy without having any stress. Without worrying about me or anything else.
